What is the Battle of Magicians?

The Battle of Magicians is an annual gathering of professional, part-time, and amateur magicians and fans of watching great magic. It is a family-friendly event. The first three days (May 2nd, 3rd & 4th, 2019) feature workshops, shows, contests, and opportunities to hang out with magicians from around the world. There are also folks who own magic shops who have some of the newest tricks, books and DVDs available of purchase.

Who is the Battle of Magicians for?

Registration is open to those who want to perform, learn or watch great magic. Anyone can register for the full weekend or for just part of the weekend. You can register online at BattleOfMagicians.com or by calling 330-494-2623.

At the conclusion of the conference, there are 2 shows open to the public at the Palace Theatre. They are Saturday, May 4th  at 8 PM and Sunday, May 5th at 2 PM. All seats are $25.00 and all seats are reserved.

Tickets are available through CantonPalaceTheatre.org or BattleOfMagicians.com. Tickets can also be purchased at the box office prior to the show. Since all seats are reserved it pays to buy tickets in advance to get better seats!

Nick Lewin - MC


NICK LEWIN (England). Nick Lewin is a master magician whose International appeal has delighted audiences and earned him standing ovations in major showrooms in Las Vegas such as the MGM Grand, Bally’s, Mandalay Bay, and Caesar’s Palace.  Nick also completed a 5 year run in Las Vegas with ‘Comedy Magic’, his own critically acclaimed and award winning one man show. He has been featured in numerous television appearances on HBO, Comedy Central, ABC, NBC, CBS, Showtime, The Sci-Fi Network and A & E.  He also starred in his own series ‘The Entertainment Files’ on Fox Television. He has performed for American Presidents, British Royalty, Saudi Princes and Hollywood legends and now he is performing for you on the ‘Big Headliner Show’ at the Palace Theatre as well as lecturing on Friday night.


Jania Taylor


JANIA TAYLOR (Michigan) With only 3 percent of magician’s being women, Jania is a real catch for this year’s ‘Battle’.  She brings a refreshing touch of elegance to the art.  You will step into an enchanted land of glamor with her musically choreographed silent act or laugh yourself silly when she presents her unique comedy magic. From the Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island, to the Mississippi Queen River Boat, to the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, Jania delights her audiences. For the first time at any magic convention, Jania will be lecturing on the history of women in magic. She is sure to delight you with her on our ‘Big Headliner Show’ at the Palace Theatre.


Robert Baxt


ROBERT BAXT (Los Angeles). “If all the world’s a stage, he wants better lighting!)  A ham since his birth in Brooklyn, New York, as a child Robert was off and entertaining with humor, balloon twisting, and comedy. When asked why he learned magic, Robert replied, “When I was a kid trying out my jokes on my family, my father was always asking me if I could disappear” After graduating college with a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Theater, Robert had to choose between two offers, Ringling Brothers Clown College or Law School.  Robert chose the one he felt would better prepare him for a life in Comedy…. Law School. That eventually led to a full time career in show business. With three chances to see Robert at the ‘Battle’, his lecture, an appearance on the Friday Night ‘All Star Extravaganza Show’, and finally on the ‘Big Headliner Show’ at the Palace Theatre, you’re going to be happy he selected….Law School and a career in comedy.


Ardan James - The Animated Illusionist


ARDEN JAMES (Milwaukee) “ The Animated Illusionist” is what he’s called.  One of the most talented comedians, magicians, and dancers in show business today is what he is. His accolades are too numerous to mention them all, but they include; Medal Winner at the ‘World Magic Festival’ in Shanghai, China; Society of American Magicians 1st Place award winner multiple times plus the SAM People’s Choice Award.  Has appeared on the ‘World’s Greatest Magic Show’ in Las Vegas. Performed in all 48 contiguous states as well as Europe, Japan, Australia and Canada. Arden has opened for numerous big names in show business including Mac King; Gary Shandling; Howie Mandel; and Ray Romano.  He rarely performs at magic conventions - in fact this will be his only convention appearance this year! You won’t want to miss his lecture and of course his performance on the ‘Big Headliner Show’ at the Palace Theatre.

Jason Hudy


JASON HUDY (Michigan) Winner of several awards in the field of magic for performance excellence, Jason Hudy provides impossible magic and first-class entertainment in a one of a kind magical production. A seasoned professional of over 5000 performances, Jason is one of the busiest professional magicians in the world today. He has performed for organizations such as Chevrolet, Mitsubishi, Six Flag theme parks, ESPN, Lego and numerous cruise ships. Whether he is reading someone’s mind or making an audience member the star of the show, with Jason you will see the impossible and be entertained. His show features grand illusions, audience participation, special effects, music comedy and more. This will be Jason’s second appearance at the ‘Battle’ and we are excited to have him back on our ‘Big Headliner Show’.

Woody Aragon

WOODY ARAGON (Toledo, Spain) This self-proclaimed ‘Geek of Cards’ who, on occasion, performs other styles of magic, will be an exciting addition to the Friday night ‘All Star Extravaganza Show’. From his own show Off-Broadway with hundreds of performances, and his Magic Castle appearances, and SAM Convention participation, Woody Aragon has become a very polished performer. This teacher of magic in the Tamariz’s school in Spain, in addition to his Friday night appearance will also teach you his superb magic at his lecture on Saturday.


Anna Deguzman

ANNA DEGUZMAN (California) - Anna DeGuzman is quickly making a name for herself as an entertainer in the world of Magic & Cardistry. She is one of the only female magicians and cardists in the world. This is her first magic convention appearance! She has performed on the Steve Harvey Show, MTV's Amazingness, and later this year she will be featured Masters Of Illusion, and Penn & Teller: Fool Us. Her hands have been seen showcasing incredible dexterity on Disney, ESPN, Buzzfeed, and a multitude of viral content produced for her social media. She frequently performs at the exclusive members only club in Hollywood, the Magic Castle, along with many high profile private events across the country. Anna loves enchanting everyone with her magical charm and being able to pursue her passion as a career. You'll be astounded by her performances and inspired by her unique lecture.

RON FRANK (Ohio) ‘The Amazing Mr. Magic’, but his friends just call him ‘Amazing’.  With a background in Speech and Drama, Ron brings over 50 years of experience to his performances. From his award winning ‘Flea Circus’ to his regular magic act, Ron has amazed audiences all over Ohio. You’re going to love his personality and unique brand of magic on the ‘All Star Extravaganza Show’ on Friday night.  Who know, maybe after meeting Ron, he’ll let you call him ‘Amazing’.

Kyle Purnell

KYLE PURNELL (Pennsylvania) - Kyle Purnell has been performing the art of magic for the last decade and a half. He lives to be a unique force in the magic community, creating practical methods and engaging effects with the close-up worker in mind, with his current creations gaining notoriety from some of the most well-respected names in magic. Kyle is the resident magician at “The Grand Illusion,” a magic-themed hard cider and wine bar located in Carlisle, PA where he performs strolling magic every Monday evening. His appearance in the Grand Close Up Show will be something you won’t want to miss, and will follow his unique lecture on creative mental card magic!

Paul Richards

PAUL RICHARDS (Buffalo) From comedy clubs to corporate functions to radio and television, Paul Richards does it all.  He has amazed audiences in nearly a dozen countries and venues in the United States including New York, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Orlando, Houston and San Diego. You won’t want to miss his lecture as Paul has a vast knowledge of magic and business.  He creates, develops and markets magic that is used by leading magicians worldwide.

ADRIAN VEGA (Spain) This award winning close-up master has wowed audiences worldwide with his flawless close-up performances. Now, Adrian will wow you at this year’s ‘International Battle of Magicians’. Criss Angel said Adrian is “One of the best wizards in the world”. His close-up is original and different. He is the ‘Spanish Champion of Close-up Magic’.  Adrian has won the ‘FISM Europe Award’ as well as many other International awards. His Thursday night lecture will be followed by his appearance in the ‘Grand Close-up Show’ on Saturday. ‘Battle’ attendees are in for a real treat watching and learning from this highly respected magician.
